Le Norvégien Jacob Tullin Thams (1898-1954), fut le premier champion olympique de l’histoire de saut à skis, en 1924 à Chamonix (2e en 1928). En gagnant l’argent dans l’épreuve de yachting à 8 en 1936, il fait partie des 4 athlètes médaillés l’été et l’hiver, et des 9 athlètes médaillés dans deux sports différents !
Record de participations
L’Autrichien Hubert Raudaschl (26-8-42) a été jusqu'en 2012 le seul athlète à avoir participé à neuf Olympiades différentes entre 1960 et 1996. Il débuta en 1964 mais était déjà présent en tant que remplaçant aux Jeux de 1960 à Rome à dix-huit ans. Il remporta deux fois l’argent olympique : en Finn en 1968 et en Star en 1980. Son record de participations a été dépassé en 2012 par le cavalier canadien Ian Millar qui en compte dix.
