Surf - Les champions du Monde Amateurs ISA (International Surfing Association) - Article du : 04/03/2024

L'ISA, International Surfing Association, organise chaque année des championnats du monde (World Surfing Games) réservés aux amateurs dans plusieurs catégories.

La 59e édition a eu lieu en février 2024 a Porto Rico.

 

Créé en 1964, le siège de l'ISA se trouve à La Jolla en Californie.

A noter que le surf est devenu un sport olympique depuis les JO de 2020 à Tokyo.

Le Pays Basque français a accueilli l'édition 2017 (du 20 au 28 mai) à Biarritz sur La Grande Plage.

Autrefois d'autres disciplines ont fait partie du programme (Junior, longboard, kneeboard, bodyboard et tandem). Grâce à leur popularité des championnats séparés sont organisés dans ces disciplines ainsi qu'en StandUp paddle et paddleboard.
